I Have A Question

If you have a question, I do not charge for a brief phone call. Please reach out by email and tell me the nature of your question and the best way to reach you. Please indicate in your email if the need is urgent.

Whether a loss has just occurred, is imminent, or you are planning for the future, this consultation is intended to meet you where you are. Please briefly describe your situation in your email. I will follow up with an initial brief phone call to schedule a meeting time. Following the initial phone call, I will send a Zoom link and prepare a topic agenda as a guide for our longer conversation.

Accompany Me

Being a consumer of funeral services can be intimidating. For most people, it is something they only do a couple of times in their lives. Some people find support in bringing a friend (who is not grieving) with them. If you wish, I am available to accompany you to an arrangement or pre-planning meeting, or to join you in the meeting via video conference.

Officiating

It is an honor to officiate at a funeral or memorial service. I can lead a nondenominational or secular service at a place of worship or at a graveside in the Greater Philadelphia region. Alternatively, I can lead a virtual memorial service via Zoom. It is not my practice to eulogize the deceased myself; rather, my role will be as the service leader, providing opening thoughts on the occasion, introductions to speakers, transitions and readings, and a closing. Remarks given by family and friends allow you to honor the deceased more authentically. I will offer guidance in helping you prepare your remarks. (While services are generally nondenominational, my personal religious background is Jewish and I can lead a Reform Jewish service.)

Walk Me Through It

This is a planning service suited to someone who is looking ahead. Each person comes to this subject at a different point in their life and in different circumstances. After an initial phone call of about 20 to 30 minutes so I can understand where you are, I will plan a consultation to consist of three meetings. Typically, the three meetings will be organized around the following, but the actual topics will be based on your needs:

  • Planning for end-of-life
  • Funeral planning
  • Guidance on preparing documents

$500 (Three meetings; 90 minutes each)

Workshops

A workshop can provide tools and information to help participants plan for themselves, or it can be oriented to a group of professionals who want to learn more about a particular aspect of end-of-life or funeral planning. Churches, synagogues, adult education programs, senior centers, and others can organize workshops for their members or clients. Professional groups such as eldercare attorneys, estate attorneys, financial planners, or healthcare providers also find value in learning about topics they do not confront directly as consumers. Workshops can consist of a single session or a series of sessions customized for the intended audience.
